How long has edgeMED Healthcare Solutions, Inc. been in business?
edgeMED has been in business since 1981 and currently services thousands of healthcare providers nationwide.

Is your system CCHIT certified?
Yes. PeakPractice EHR/PM version 1093 is CCHIT Certified for CCHIT Ambulatory EHR 2008.

Can your system integrate with other software systems?
Yes. edgeMED utilizes the industry standard, HL-7 protocol, enabling it to integrate with other software systems.

Do you offer free upgrades and enhancements?
Yes. As long as edgeMED's software support agreement is in force, all upgrades and enhancements to the software are provided at no charge.

Do you have after business hours emergency support? Yes. edgeMED has service after normal business hours, seven days a week.

Do you offer hardware technical assistance?
Yes. edgeMED has qualified service technicians on call to answer any questions related to hardware connectivity.

Can I access all my patient records remotely?
Yes. Whether using edgeMED's local-based solution or subscription/hosted plan physician's can retrieve and amend patient data from any location in the world that has internet connectivity.

Is the system totally secure from unauthorized use?
The software contains security permission levels throughout, granting certain access to the appropriate persons.

Can you convert my patient data from my existing system to your software?
Yes! edgeMED has written conversion programs to convert patient demographic information and code tables from other companies.

What method of payment do you offer when purchasing your system other than cash?
edgeMED has very competitive monthly lease terms so you can afford to get the equipment you need today, for less. We also take MasterCard, Visa and American Express.

Full-Service Billing FAQs

Does edgeMED provide us with software to access our patient information and appointment scheduler?
Yes. As a full-service billing customer, edgeMED provides its software program to your office at no additional charge. At your choosing, the software program may be loaded on your local network or it may hosted securely by edgeMED. In either scenario, your staff will have secure 24/7 access to your data from any location in the world (high-speed Internet access is required).

How does edgeMED receive the patient information needed to submit medical claims for payment?
The choice is up to the physician. The information can be scanned into digital format and emailed, faxed, sent by U.S. Postal Service or other delivery service to edgeMED’s office.

Does edgeMED handle my Insurance checks?
Normally, edgeMED will file the claims and post EOB's and payments as needed, but does not handle checks directly. Most carriers can deposit directly to the physician's account when the claim is submitted electronically, or send payment to the physician's office.

How quickly will I be reimbursed?
On average, payment is received within 14 days.

Where do patients call regarding questions about their claims?
Since edgeMED is responsible for tracking claims, edgeMED provides your patients with a toll-free number so that they may contact us directly.

What are the fees for edgeMED services?
edgeMED’s fees for medical billing services are based upon a percentage of the gross amount collected for medical services. Fees are dependent upon the practice's claim volume and any additional services that are contracted. edgeMED strives to leave no claim unpaid. edgeMED’s success is dependent upon the success of its customers.
